We know many men feel the weight of the world and don't know where to turn. πŸ’™ The community has made it loud and clear that the Robson Valley is in need of more services for men.Our management team has been busy compiling grant applications in hopes of securing the funding required to create a new program specifically for men.Thankfully, we've had some success with grant funders, and we feel it's important to involve the community in the design process of future programming.Let us know what you'd like to see happen with a men's counselling program by filling out the short, anonymous survey:πŸ‘‰https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FJJ7P3CWhile RVCS may not currently offer counselling services for men, we do serve men in the following programs:βœ… Better At Home Programβœ… Adult Literacy Programβœ… Indigenous Literacy Programβœ… Family Support Programβœ… Police-Based Victim Services Programβœ… Employment Services Program If you have any questions, please reach out to Lina Thompson at ed@rvcsbc.org.If you’d like to access any of our existing services, you can call us toll-free 1-844-324-2004.*Thank you to Malcolm who designed our men's programming posters. ....#mensmentalhealth #menscounselling #menmattertoo #endthestigma #BetterTogetherRVCS ... It’s that time again- another Staff Spotlight feature has arrived! πŸ”¦πŸ‘‰ We introduce to you, Laura Smith! πŸ‘ˆWe couldn’t be more thrilled to have had this lively and vivacious team member with us for a joyous year now. Laura Smith grew up in the Robson Valley and after over a decade away working on her post-secondary education and career in social services, she decided to return to her roots to continue a career in the mental health field in her home community. With an extensive background in many different settings, including child welfare, daycare work and counselling, Laura was the perfect fit for the role of Child & Youth Mental Health Clinician. Her expertise also landed her the title of CYMH & Family Support Supervisor, where she oversees numerous staff throughout our organization.Laura made the move with more than just a new career on her mind, she knew that her community-minded hometown was the perfect place to raise a young family. With a new baby on the way, this newly expectant mother has been excited to meet other parents in the community and build upon the life that she has worked hard to create for herself. It goes without saying, it won’t be easy for this dedicated counsellor to stay away from the office, as she will dearly miss her clients while on maternity leave. Even with a little one on the horizon, this lover of the wilderness hopes to continue fueling her passion for snowboarding, hiking and paddle boarding. β€œI’m thrilled to be in Valemount, where all this is at my fingertips!”Your zest for life is infectious, Laura! Your positive and bubbly attitude spreads around the office, and you’ve been an exemplary force of outstanding professionalism.
