The Victim Services Coordinator provides support to people who are victims and/or witnesses of a crime or accident.

The Coordinator offers guidance, advocacy, and information to clients going through the legal system, and is trained and skilled at supporting clients who are experiencing the immediate trauma and grief as a result of a critical incident and supports individuals on an emotional and practical level for the entire process of the incident (from the immediate occurrence through to the months of judicial processing). Stress debriefing after a critical incident in the workplace, schools and community is also a service provided by this program.

Violence includes:

  • physical abuse (includes forced confinement and deprivation of the necessities of life, but not reasonable force to protect oneself or others from harm)
  • sexual abuse
  • attempts to physically or sexually abuse
  • psychological or emotional abuse including intimidation, harassment, coercion, or threats, including threats against other people, pets, or property
  • unreasonable restrictions on or denial of financial or personal autonomy
  • stalking or following
  • intentional damage to property
  • in the case of a child, direct or indirect exposure to violence
