A survey team from CARF International* will be visiting Robson Valley Community Services (RVCS) in McBride and Valemount from November 6th to 8th, 2023.

CARF is an independent, non-profit, international accreditor of health and human services. Through accreditation, CARF assists service providers in improving the quality of their services, demonstrating value, and meeting internationally recognized organizational and program standards.
The accreditation process applies sets of standards to service areas and business practices during an on-site survey. Accreditation, however, is an ongoing process, signaling to the public that a service provider is committed to continuously improving services, encouraging feedback, and serving the community. Accreditation also demonstrates a provider’s commitment to enhance its performance, manage its risk, and distinguish its service delivery.
This survey will tell us where we are meeting these standards well, and ways we might improve. We aim to achieve three-year accreditation that highlights our efforts to continuously improve RVCS business functions and service delivery standards. The programs being surveyed are those under MCFD contract, which includes our Infant Development Program, Infant Development Program Regional Advisor, Supported Child Development Program, Child and Youth Mental Health Program, Family Support Program, and Family Place Drop-In Program.
What to expect?
As part of the assessment, the surveyors will interview people who receive services, their families, our staff, and others. Some questions the survey team members might ask people are:
- Do we provide a clean and safe setting?
- Do you receive the services you need and want?
- Are you treated with respect?
- Do you take part in planning your services?
- Are you told what you need to know about your services?
- Are your questions answered in a way you understand?
- Do you know where to go with questions or concerns?
